In a world full of self-help books that can, at times, target what is termed the “personality ethic“, it’s easy to get caught up in talking, planning, fantasizing, etc. The personality ethic targets you actions, attitudes, and behaviors hoping to create a better human interaction. However, other books emphasize what is termed the “character ethic” which operates on values and principles. By acting on values and principles, you are not subject to certain situations, rather you act the same regardless.
To accomplish your goals, I would suggest following the character ethic and continue to move forward as the best possible version of yourself always. Do not strive to make a great first impression, flatter, or be someone you’re not. I’m sure we all know those people who constantly make big plans, dreams, visions, or goals and never follow through with them! In the words of one of my favorite comedians Bryan Callen… “Are we just going to talk about what we could do? Or are we actually going to do it!?” Use this week to talk less and do more… set goals and accomplish them..and keep moving in the right direction!
